Meet Melanie
For 20 years, Melanie has raised beef with close attention to her animals. The work means being there for the births, knowing the families, and attending to each animal as it grows.
Her story belongs here—in her own words, alongside photographs of the everyday moments that make ranch life hers.
Say hello to Melanie ↗Our responsibility to the animals
Care and respect through
every stage of life.
At Parsons Ranch, care is personal.
Our cattle are born and raised here, in familiar surroundings, with regular human interaction and Melanie’s attentive daily care. We know the animals we raise and take our responsibility to them seriously.
That commitment continues through humane on-ranch harvest. The animals avoid a live journey to auction or an off-ranch slaughter facility, and the unfamiliar holding pens and mixing with unfamiliar cattle that can accompany that journey. After harvest, the carcass is transported to a local professional butcher for cutting, vacuum packing, and freezing.
Transport, handling, crowding, and waiting can affect cattle welfare. Prolonged stress before slaughter can deplete muscle energy reserves and affect meat’s acidity, color, and shelf life. These findings help explain why thoughtful handling matters for the animals and for the quality of the beef. Our approach is designed to minimize fear and stress throughout their lives.
For Melanie, every animal matters, and every stage of its life deserves care and respect.
Piedmontese genetics can contribute to lean beef while maintaining tenderness. USDA research has found these traits in certain Piedmontese-cross cattle. These characteristics are part of the breed’s appeal. Fat content and eating quality vary with the animal’s genetics, feeding, the cut, and trimming.

A reflection from our family
A Christian reflection on the food we raise and share.
At Parsons Ranch, we see raising cattle as a responsibility rooted in care—for the land, for our animals, and for the families we serve. Our Christian faith inspires us to approach that work with gratitude, humility, and respect for God’s creation.
The Bible’s account begins with God providing seed-bearing plants and fruit for people, and green plants for animals. It is a picture of creation sustained by His provision.
Genesis 1:29–30
After the Flood, God explicitly permitted Noah and his family to eat animals, just as He had given them plants for food. That permission was accompanied by a restriction against consuming meat with its lifeblood still in it.
Genesis 9:3–4
In the New Testament, Paul teaches believers who eat meat and those who abstain to welcome one another without contempt or judgment. Both can give thanks to God. He also urges Christians to honor their conscience and consider how their choices affect others.
Romans 14:1–6, 13–23
For our family, these passages encourage a simple approach: raise our animals with care, receive our food with thankfulness, and treat others’ convictions with kindness. Whatever brings you to Parsons Ranch, we’re glad you’re here.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the land You have entrusted to us, the animals placed in our care, and the blessings that come from Your creation.
Guide our hands to raise our cattle with kindness, patience, and respect. Give us wisdom to care for the land, provide wholesome food, and honor the responsibility You have given us.
May the food we raise nourish the bodies, strengthen the health, and bring joy to the tables of the families we serve.
Bless every family gathered around those tables, and remind us always that all good things come from You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Good beef begins with thoughtful care. Our limited production allows Melanie to give every animal personal attention—and every buyer a direct connection to the ranch.
Our beef is available through ownership shares in a living animal, arranged before harvest. Use our contact form to request a half or whole animal. Please include your full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
Melanie will contact you about the price per pound. She will also confirm availability, the pricing basis, processing arrangements, and the expected delivery period. Submitting a request does not confirm an order or reserve an animal.
